“Ah-mor-keh” is an oriki or praise name from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria, West Africa, meaning “to know is to care for”. We believe it aptly describes our approach to skin and skincare. When you know more, you do better. The Amoke brand thrives on simplicity; from the clean white and grey of our logo to our ingredient ethos to our skincare philosophy. We appeal to the woman or man that desires healthy, glowing skin without complex routines.
Our Story
Speaking of our ingredient ethos; we utilise African botanicals within sound, science based formulations, to showcase the beneficial raw materials Africa has to offer melanin rich skin.. Our ingredients largely come from nature, are naturally derived or nature identical. However, where a synthetic ingredient adds value to our formulation, we take advantage if it. We do not believe that natural is automatically good and that synthetic is automatically bad. From the ingredients themselves to the concentration to the mode of delivery to the packaging, they are thoroughly researched to ensure we bring you highly efficacious, multi-tasking products. Our focus is on more active ingredients and less fillers.
Because many of our ingredients come from nature, we have a responsibility to nature, to preserve it. Our sustainability mission is a work in progress. We aim to be as kind to the environment as possible in our packaging, ingredient sourcing and carbon footprint. It goes without saying that we are a cruelty free brand.
